I hope you have all had Happy Holidays! Despite coming down with Covid for the first time (pretty sure my granddaughter brought it to her dad, then me, then her mom) we went to my folks--barely making they cut off for quarantine. The kids have had it before. Kathy somehow did not get it--despite being exposed to her and to me all week. I took Paxlovid since I am immuno-compromised. I actually felt better than normal from the time I was exposed until the time the Paxlovid ended. This seems to happen to me...my fatigue lifts decently when my ...

This is my Kimberly quilt top from Gudren's quiltalong the end of July. I made my own layer cake and like how warm and fallish it looks.
I quilted and bound this Simple Gifts baby quilt that has been patiently waiting for me to do.
I did the September Butterfly Bush and Log Cabin Love blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

I was planning to make this originally in green and then decided I would do a pair so I could do them with green and yellow. The pieces are VERY SMALL and in the course of making one I decided I really did not want to make the pair--though the green sixteen patches are done and the sashings and cornerstones are cut. I thought maybe I could use those sixteen patches in the border, but them realized what I LOVED about ...
read moreI am trying to do a Christmas Through the Year project each month, but did nothing in February so I made five pillowcases (they are folded) though four of them are going for birthday gifts--I am counting it.

I spent much of February working on Wild and Goosey blocks so I could add another row to my top. I love this add a quarter ruler for trimming up after each piece.
I added the row and deemed the top finished--finally. I think I started this in 2013. Each block takes an hour or so and it is 9x8 so many blocks, hours, scraps! This was my American Patchwork and Quilting UFO for February.
I made a few more little trees while I ... read more
I added an outer border to Rhododendron Trail to contain the design. In retrospect I should have limited it to 25 blocks because it is really, really long. Too late now!
12-1/2 yards.
I had to buy more of the turquoise print. Fortunately Joann's had 2 yards on the bolt. And that was ALL I bought. (At Joann's, that is. There's a DSW next door and I found these terrific shoes. I've seen them in a couple of mail-order catalogs but this way I could try them on. They also came in two-tone blue and ... read more(Here is an explanation of the good-luck charm.)
The January Stash Report: Fabric IN 52-3/4, $127, average $2.40/yard. (I received a generous destashing gift.)
Fabric OUT: 53-3/4 I'm ahead by one yard.
The "fabric out" count includes 20 teal/aqua spinner blocks for the February Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
There are two parts to my ...

Read and listened to "The Storyteller." And read and skim read the PPMS book.
The UFO number for this month was 7. So I am adding another row onto my Wild and Goosey! Honk honk!

I sewed and I sewed until I'd made 41 four-patch basket blocks. I used up ALL of the red 30's print. I had a 3" x WOF piece of red that I cut in half and sewed back together along the long edge. That gave me enough for three large triangles and the rest of the small triangles to get the count to 41 and achieve a symmetrical layout.
I put the blocks away for the time being as I attend to other projects.

read moreGot clue two of Rhododendron Trail cut out earlier this week. Been more fatigued than usual most likely due to doing some deep cleaning of the living room and sewing room on Monday. I had to do some, rest some, and Kathy helped but I was so glad to do it before we put the Christmas stuff up. It needed it.
